Under this collaboration, TFBS will provide contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services for Medigen Vaccine’s second-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine.
Building on the First-Generation EV71 Vaccine to Advance a Second-Generation Multivalent Vaccine
MVC has long been committed to the development of enterovirus vaccines. Its first-generation Enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine, ENVACGEN®, has received regulatory approval in Taiwan and Vietnam, and the company is actively expanding its presence in Southeast Asian markets. In response to the evolving epidemiology of enteroviruses, MVC is leveraging its experience in the development and commercialization of its first-generation vaccine to advance a second-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine with broader protective coverage, establishing a foundation for subsequent clinical development and commercialization.
TFBS and MVC have maintained a collaborative relationship for many years. This new phase of collaboration will further integrate MVC’s experience in vaccine research and product development with TFBS’s established expertise in virology, analytical technologies, process development, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing to support the development of the second-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine.
Leveraging Viral Expertise and Process Scale-Up Capabilities to Support Process Optimization
Process development for a multivalent enterovirus vaccine requires the establishment of processes for multiple viral serotypes, analytical method development, process scale-up, and quality control. These activities must also be conducted in specialized facilities that comply with applicable biosafety requirements.
Under this collaboration, TFBS will leverage its established viral process development and manufacturing platforms to support the development and evaluation of antigen manufacturing processes for multiple viral serotypes through a phased process development and scale-up strategy. By integrating process development, analytical, scale-up, and manufacturing capabilities, TFBS will assist in establishing robust and scalable process foundations, reducing technical risks associated with subsequent process scale-up and manufacturing transfer, and supporting MVC in accelerating the development of its second-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine.
Strengthening Taiwan’s Vaccine Development and Manufacturing Ecosystem
