TFBS Bioscience and Adara Bio Collaborate to Accelerate Development of AAV-based Gene Therapy

2026-07-17

Taipei, Taiwan — 17 July 2026

TFBS Bioscience, Inc. (Headquarters: New Taipei City, Taiwan; hereinafter “TFBS”), a leading viral vector CDMO and CRO service provider in Taiwan, and Adara Bio Pty Ltd (hereinafter “Adara Bio”), an Australian-based company, announce a collaboration agreement for adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector manufacturing at BIO Asia 2026 in Taipei. Under the partnership, Adara Bio, a biotechnology company focused on the development of next generation RNA medicines for inherited retinal diseases (IRDs), will leverage TFBS's expertise in contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) services to support its preclinical and future clinical programs.

Adara Bio, a spin-out company from the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), is committed to developing therapeutic products for IRDs by leveraging an innovative gene therapy technology—its RNA Base Editing Platform. Using optimized AAV vectors, Adara Bio precisely delivers its proprietary therapeutic cargo to target cells, with the aim of treating IRDs caused by genetic defects. Adara Bio’s research will be conducted by the Genetic Engineering Research Unit based in CERA’s laboratories in Melbourne, Australia.

Gene therapy is widely regarded internationally as one of the most promising approaches to addressing IRDs. Adara Bio’s gene therapy platform is designed to address significant unmet medical needs and to offer new hope to patients with IRDs for which effective treatment options are currently lacking.

TFBS specializes in viral vector manufacturing and provides integrated development, manufacturing, and testing services for cell and gene therapies, vaccines, and biologics. Its comprehensive capabilities span research and development, process development, GMP manufacturing, biosafety testing, preclinical studies, and clinical sample testing. By offering a one-stop-shop platform, TFBS helps streamline the supply chain, reduce development timelines and costs, and accelerate the transition from development to clinical manufacturing while maintaining the highest quality standards.

"We are delighted to collaborate with Adara Bio," said Dr. Tatung Yuan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TFBS Bioscience. "Leveraging TFBS's advanced gene therapy CDMO capabilities and manufacturing capacity, we are committed to supporting the development of this potentially transformative therapy and accelerating its path toward clinical application for the benefit of patients worldwide."

Mr. Jitto Arulampalam, Chairman of Adara Bio, said, “Adara Bio looks forward to leveraging its proprietary gene therapy platform to help restore sight for patients with inherited retinal diseases. We are pleased to partner with TFBS Bioscience, a professional CDMO, and believe this collaboration will help accelerate the commercialization of Adara Bio’s gene therapy products, enabling us to bring meaningful benefits to patients sooner.”

This collaboration combines Adara Bio's expertise in innovative AAV gene therapy development with TFBS Bioscience's extensive experience in viral vector development and GMP manufacturing. Through this partnership, both companies aim to advance the development of the therapeutic candidate, accelerate its progression toward clinical studies, and ultimately expand treatment options for patients.
